COLORADO HIGH-COUNTRY CATTLE

Quality Starts With the Cattle.

Triple JC Ranch raises cattle in Colorado’s high country, where genetics, health, structure, performance, and hands-on management all matter.

From the cattle we select to our 90-day grain finish and processing approach, every step is built around producing beef we’re proud to put our name on.

OUR CATTLE

Raised With the Environment in Mind.

Good beef starts long before processing. It starts with the cattle, the conditions they’re raised in, and the decisions made along the way.

Angus-Simmental Genetics

Triple JC Ranch works with Angus-Simmental cattle, combining desirable beef characteristics with strong, functional cattle selected with health, performance, and the environment in mind.

Elevation, weather, terrain, and changing conditions all influence how cattle are selected and managed. We look for cattle that can stay healthy, function well, and perform in the environment they're being raised in.

90-Day Grain Finish

Our cattle are grain finished for approximately 90 days to support marbling, flavor, body condition, and a more consistent finished product.

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

Good Beef Starts With Good Cattle.

The final product is influenced by decisions made long before an animal reaches the finishing stage.

GENETICS + EPDS

Better Decisions Start With the Animal.

Triple JC Ranch uses Angus-Simmental genetics and looks beyond breed name alone when evaluating cattle.

EPDs — Estimated Progeny Differences — provide another tool for evaluating traits related to:

  • Growth
  • Calving
  • Performance
  • Structure
  • Beef characteristics

Genetics don’t replace good management, but they help provide a stronger foundation from the start.

GENETICS ARE PART OF THE PLAN — NOT AN AFTERTHOUGHT.

HIGH-COUNTRY PERFORMANCE

Built for Colorado's High Country.

Raising cattle at elevation brings a different set of considerations than raising cattle in every other environment.

Triple JC pays attention to how cattle handle:

  • Elevation
  • Changing weather
  • Terrain
  • Overall health
  • Structure
  • Performance

The goal isn’t simply to raise the biggest animal.

It’s to raise healthy, functional cattle that perform well in Colorado conditions and can develop into the quality finished beef we’re looking for.

BUILT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT THEY'RE RAISED IN.

HANDS-ON MANAGEMENT

We Know Our Cattle.

Triple JC Ranch isn’t a distant or anonymous cattle operation.

The family is directly involved in:

  • Feeding
  • Daily care
  • Watching condition
  • Evaluating individual animals
  • Making decisions about when cattle are ready to move into the finishing stage

That hands-on connection is part of what ranch-direct beef should mean.

RANCH-DIRECT SHOULD FEEL PERSONAL.

RAISING CATTLE AT ELEVATION

The Environment Matters.

Colorado’s high country is more than a backdrop to Triple JC Ranch. Elevation, terrain, changing weather, and seasonal conditions all become part of managing cattle well.

That means paying attention to more than growth alone.

We look at the whole animal — health, structure, condition, performance, and how cattle respond to the environment around them.

The cattle have to work for the ranch they’re raised on.

“The right animal isn't just one that grows. It's one that fits the environment.”

THE FINAL 90 DAYS

Finished for Flavor & Marbling.

The finishing period has a major influence on the beef that ultimately reaches the table. Triple JC cattle receive an approximately 90-day grain finish designed to support:

  • Marbling
  • Flavor
  • Consistency
  • Proper finished condition

This stage isn’t simply about adding weight.

The goal is to give the animal enough time and nutrition to develop into the finished product we’re looking for.

HOW IT WORKS

From Ranch to Freezer

Buying beef directly from a ranch is different from buying individual packages at the grocery store. Here’s how the process comes together.

01

Select + Raise

Quality cattle, sound genetics, and management suited to Colorado conditions.

02

Manage

Hands-on care, feeding, and evaluation throughout the animal’s development.

03

Finish

Approximately 90 days on grain to develop the finished animal.

04

Process + Hang

Once ready, cattle move to processing, and the beef is typically hung for approximately two weeks.

05

Cut + Package

Larger purchases can be processed according to customer cut preferences.

06

Fill the Freezer

Packaged beef is ready to take home and enjoy.

WHAT YOU’RE ACTUALLY BUYING

Live Weight Isn't Take-Home Weight.

The numbers change throughout processing. Understanding the difference makes buying ranch-direct much easier.

TAKE-HOME BEEF

The packaged cuts that ultimately go into your freezer.

Weight is naturally reduced throughout processing through the removal of hide, organs, bone, trimming, moisture loss, and the cuts selected by the customer.
