5. LIVE WEIGHT, HANGING WEIGHT + TAKE-HOME WEIGHT

Live Weight

The animal’s weight before processing.

Hanging Weight

The carcass weight after initial processing and before final cutting and trimming.

Take-Home Weight

These weights are not interchangeable.

Triple JC Ranch may provide general guidance regarding freezer space for larger beef purchases.

For example, we may recommend planning for approximately 17.5–18 cubic feet of freezer space for a side of beef.
